Built Environment Scholarship (offered under SgIS)

1. Background

The Singapore-Industry Scholarship (SgIS) is an undergraduate scholarship for Singapore Citizens who are keen to work in leading organisations in Singapore’s strategic sectors like the Built Environment (BE) sector. As the economic agency for the BE sector, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) helps to bring in BE firms as Sponsoring Organisations in the SgIS programme to offer scholarship to successful candidates.

The SgIS application period is from January to March annually.

2. Scholarship Benefits

Full-Term (for Singapore Citizens enrolling into full-time Degree courses from local universities only i.e. SIT, NTU, NUS, SMU, SUSS, SUTD)

  • Coverage of full tuition fees and approved academic charges
  • Annual living allowance
  • One-time overseas exchange allowance

For built environment courses, the estimated total value of award is ~S$80,000 – S$140,000.

Mid-Term Local (for Singapore Citizens studying in full-time Degree courses from local institutions i.e. SIT, NTU, NUS, SMU, SUSS, SUTD)

  • One- time Scholarship allowance of S$30,000 or S$50,000
  • One-time overseas exchange allowance

Mid-Term Overseas (for Singapore Citizens studying full-time overseas in Degree courses from overseas universities)

  • One- time Scholarship allowance of S$40,000 or S$60,000
  • One-time overseas exchange allowance

3. Scholarship Bond Period

  • Full-Term: 3 to 4 years
  • Mid-Term: 2 to 3 years

5. Requirements

  • Singapore Citizens only
  • [For Full-Term Scholarship applicants] Good GCE A level results or equivalent (including International Baccalaureate and NUS High Diploma) or Polytechnic Diploma
  • [For Mid-Term Scholarship applicants] Completed at least 1 academic semester and are not in the final year of study in an overseas university or from the following local institutions: SIT, NTU, NUS, SMU, SUSS, SUTD
  • Good CCA/NS records or involvement in community activities and demonstrating strong leadership qualities
  • Passion to make a difference in the Built Environment Sector
