BrightSparks is a scholarship and higher education portal that partners with JCs, IB Diploma institutions, higher education institutions and scholarship/course providers in Singapore. It is owned and managed by CareerBuilder Singapore.

Scholarship Application Queries

Step-by-Step Scholarship Application Process

Begin at the Login / Register button (at the top right-hand corner).
 
If you are an existing user, login using your credentials and then select the following option from the drop-down menu:
Proceed to the Scholarship Résumé section in the same drop-down menu
Fill up the Scholarship Résumé.
You need only fill up this Form once.
Your Form will be sent with your Profile data for all your scholarship applications.
If you are a new user, you can sign up for a BrightSparks account with the following information: name, email address, gender and current school/alma mater.

Photo & Supporting Documents Upload relevant supporting documents (testimonials, letters of commendations, etc.) and a clear, well-taken photo of yourself. Photos are mandatory for all BrightSparks scholarship applications.
Applications History Manage your draft and submitted BrightSparks scholarship applications here. For draft applications, you may edit them while the particular scholarship’s application window is still open.
  • Some scholarships are open for application all year round.
  • For other scholarships, most scholarship providers typically have two application windows – one during September to November and one during March to April the following year.
  • If you are unsure, use the Search Scholarships tool to check for open scholarships.
  • If you are considering multiple scholarships, use the Compare Scholarships tool for easy evaluation of your preferred scholarships.
  • In general, submit documents that will back up entries in your Scholarship Résumé.
  • E.g. a softcopy of your Certificate of Participation for a specific competition
  • Your BrightSparks Scholarship Résumé will be forwarded to the scholarship provider
  • There is no need to reapply again unless you are specifically required to do so by the scholarship provider.

Students are encouraged to complete their BrightSparks profile/application form on their own initiative (a key attribute that many scholarship providers are looking for).

  • Not all scholarship providers use the BrightSparks Scholarship Résumé
  • If you are redirected, follow the instructions on the redirected site to complete your scholarship application.
  • Your application record will still be reflected in BrightSparks and your Profile information will also be forwarded to the scholarship provider.
  • Yes you can, unless the scholarship provider specifically requires your final grades.
  • Remember to update your Scholarship Résumé once you have your final academic results – any changes will be reflected across all scholarship applications.
  • Yes! Some scholarship providers have minimum grade requirements, but many others do not.
  • Candidates should be passionate about the organisation’s mission and vision and/or demonstrate ‘soft’ skills like initiative, leadership and communication skills.
  • We recommend that you draft your replies separately before copy-pasting the completed text.
  • This will help you avoid the system time-out (which will erase any text that has already been entered in the text box).
  • Of course! There are numerous scholarship and higher education opportunities open to diploma graduates / undergraduates.

BrightSparks Portal Queries

  • Click on the Login/Register button to sign in with your BrightSparks account
  • Select Profile from the drop-down menu and amend your personal particulars accordingly.
  • ‘Draft’ indicates that your scholarship application has not been submitted – please edit/complete your scholarship application and click ‘Apply’.
  • ‘Sent’ indicates that your scholarship application has been submitted. You may not further edit your scholarship application.

There is no fixed time period – generally, you can expect to receive a reply within 1-2 months.
