SPH Journalism Scholarship (Mid-Term)

Are you curious, persistent, keen to uncover the truth and tell stories - whether about people, a country or region? Do you have the courage to uphold strong ethics and integrity when the going gets tough? If yes, we invite you to launch into an exciting career with us through the SPH Media Journalism Scholarships or SPH Media-Temasek Foundation Scholarship.

Full-term and Mid-term undergraduate scholarships are offered for Chinese, Malay and Tamil media. For English media, only mid-term scholarships are offered.

Type of Scholarship

For current undergraduates applying for English, Chinese, Malay or Tamil Media.

Requirements

  • Singapore Citizen or Singapore PR

  • Excellent academic record

  • Good CCA and/or NS records

  • Interest in news and current affairs

  • Enjoys creating engaging multimedia content

Benefits

  • Tuition and other compulsory university fees

  • Monthly allowances

  • One-time grant for university-related expenses

  • Support for exchange programme (for local scholars)

  • Return airfare (for overseas scholars)

  • Internships from second year of study

Potential Career Path and Developmental Opportunities

Scholars will be offered internship opportunities to work on exciting projects within the organisations. Supervisors / Mentors will be appointed to coach and guide you.

You will have opportunities to be rotated across different areas to gain exposure and experience. Outstanding scholars will also be groomed for top leadership positions within the company.

All fields of study, except medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, architecture, or law.

Universities

Both local and overseas universities.

Service Commitment

  • Local: 3 to 4 years

  • Overseas: 3 to 6 years

The actual bond period depends on the university enrolled in, the course of study, and the number of years sponsored.

Application Process

Applications are open from Dec 2023 to 31 Mar 2024.

The selection process involves interviews, online assessments, and an internship stint with SPH.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted to proceed to the next part of the application process.
